How to Make It

Four ways to make your matcha. Each one takes under a minute.

Iced Matcha Latte

    Tear. Open one matcha stick.

    Dissolve. Pour into 2 oz (60 ml) of hot water and stir until smooth.

    Ice + milk. Fill a glass with ice. Pour in 6-8 oz of your favorite milk.

    Pour. Pour the matcha over the milk. Sweeten to taste if desired.
For the best layered look, pour the matcha slowly over the back of a spoon.

Hot Matcha Latte

    Tear. Open one matcha stick.

    Dissolve. Pour into 2 oz (60 ml) of hot water (not boiling - around 175°F / 80°C). Stir or whisk.

    Steam. Heat 6-8 oz of milk until hot. Froth if you like.

    Combine. Pour milk into the matcha. Sweeten to taste if desired.
Water that is too hot can make matcha taste bitter. Let boiling water cool for 2 minutes.

    Pour. Add 2-3 oz (60-90 ml) of hot water.

    Whisk. Whisk briskly with the included bamboo whisk (or any small whisk) until frothy.
This is closest to a traditional matcha. Use the bamboo whisk from your first order for the best froth.

Tips

Dissolve first, always

Even for iced drinks, start by dissolving the matcha in a small amount of hot water. This prevents clumping and gives you a smoother drink.

Water temperature matters

Use water around 175°F (80°C), not boiling. Too hot and the matcha turns bitter. Let boiled water sit for 2 minutes.

Sweetener is optional

Our matcha tastes great on its own, but feel free to add honey, sugar, or your sweetener of choice.

Storage

Each stick is individually sealed, so it stays fresh until you open it. Keep your box in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight.
